Sorry for the long pause between news. For me – it’s very hard to work in such hot weather. Much better to have a meal outdoors, have a beer, bask in the sun, swim and play volleyball. And of course I’ve done all of it during last weeks. And finally I’ve received my master degree diploma to my hands.
But now is time to get back to work. So, here are my answers on Google Summer of Code 2010 Midterm Evaluation Form. It’s not a complete form – I did not give some comments, because I’ve already wrote about them in previous posts.
How many years have you participated in Google Summer of Code (this doesn’t have to be consecutive)?
This is my first year.
I knew about program before, but never participated.
At what point did you first make contact with your mentor?
Before the program was announced.
I am following the discussions on the User and Development mailing lists since December 2009. Since this time I have made several plugins for Sonar. Since 8 February 2010, I am a Sonar core developer.
How often do you and your mentor interact?
Every few days.
In different time I’ve talked with different people from Sonar team, because they have different responsibilities. So I interact not only with my mentor, but with an entire team, with users and other contributors.
How much time do you spend on Google Summer of Code per week (consider coding time but also meeting with your mentor and/or organization and time spent planning)?
More than 20 hours per week.
As I said in my proposal: “I’ll try to spent as much as possible time on this project”.
Please rate the quality of interactions and communications with your mentor (consider your communications with him/her as well as his/her responses):
Very Good.
Freddy is a very good leader and product owner!
Are you on track to complete your project?
I am on schedule.
How would you describe the quality of work you’ve produced thus far?
Meets my personal expectations.
How responsive is your mentor to you when you have questions or send communications?
Very responsive.
What one thing do you think you could do to improve the quality of your interactions with your mentor?
Meet him personally and I’ll do it!
Would you want to work with this mentor again (in any capacity)?
Yes.
I’m going to visit SonarSource office on next week and meet the entire Sonar team.
Would you want to work with this organization again (in any capacity)?
Yes.
Codehaus is a great open-source community with a well established infrastructure.
What do you consider the best aspect of participating in Google Summer of Code?
Very good opportunity for students to work on a real open-source project.
What do you consider the most challenging aspect of participating in Google Summer of Code?
Acceptance of proposal.
Would you apply for Google Summer of Code in an upcoming year?
I’m not sure, because I’ve already received my master degree, so maybe I’ll finish my study in university. But if it would be possibly to apply, then I definitely want to do it.
Sonar 2.2 is coming and I’m planning to make Sonar IDE 0.2 available shortly after that, so stay tuned!
